Elena Martinez, PhD, MPH

Dr. Elena Martinez is a Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health in the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. She holds the Sam M. Walton Endowed Chair for Cancer Research and is Associate Director of the Population Sciences, Disparities, and Community Engagement at the Moores Cancer Center. She has experience leading and coordinating national and international research projects. Her current work focuses on addressing disparities throughout the cancer continuum.

Samir Gupta, MD, MSCS

Principal Investigator

Dr. Gupta is Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of California San Diego, and Chief, Section of Gastroenterology at the Department of Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System. His research focuses on the screening and prevention of colorectal cancer. He serves as chair of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network’s annually issued Genetic/Familial High-Risk Assessment: Colorectal guidelines, and as a member of the US Multisociety Task Force on Colorectal Cancer.

Scott C. Roesch, Ph.D.

Principal Investigator

Scott C. Roesch, Ph.D., is a professor of psychology at SDSU, where he teaches advanced and multivariate statistics at the graduate level. He has research expertise in multilevel modeling, latent variable methods, measurement, and longitudinal approaches to data analysis. He also serves as a core research scientist specializing in Research Methods and Statistics for the Moore’s Cancer Center, the Children and Adolescent Services Research Center, the Consortium for the Collaborative Initiative on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, and the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare. He has served as an Associate Editor for both Implementation Science and Health Psychology, and as a primary statistical editor for Health Psychology, Journal for Research on Adolescence, American Journal of Preventive Medicine, and the Psychology of Women Quarterly. In the last 15 years Dr. Roesch has served as either the Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator on 25 funded grants.
