University of Arizona Cancer CenterJennifer Hatcher, PhD, RN, MPH, is a Professor in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health and College of Nursing, as well as the Associate Director of Community Outreach and Engagement at the University of Arizona Cancer Center. She earned her Bachelors and Masters in Nursing from West Virginia University and a Master’s in Public Health and PhD in Nursing from the University of Kentucky. Dr. Hatcher has a sustained program of research focused on improving the health of underserved minorities, with a focus on cancer disparities.
Peter Lance, MD, FRCP, is a Research Scientist and Professor Emeritus of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Arizona Cancer Center. He obtained his undergraduate, masters and medical degrees at the University of Cambridge, UK. His basic, translational, and clinical research has focused on the mechanisms of colorectal carcinogenesis and approaches for prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer. He has led a series of multicenter, NCI-funded colorectal adenoma prevention studies, with a cumulative total of >4,000 patients. His current disparities research focuses on researching and eradicating the disparities in rates of colorectal cancer screening among Native Americans compared to the general U.S. population.
